If you would like a Back Porch puppy, please complete our puppy application and we will review it and get in touch with you right away. If you don't hear from us, please send an email because sometimes a technical glitch may cause loss of contact information and we won't have any way to reach you. Don't give up on us!

Because our dogs are family, we are committed to their well-being and we will give you reasonable support you for the life of your Back Porch dog. (Unless, of course, they out-live us, which we hope they will!)

We hope that you will agree that if, for any reason, you are not able to keep your puppy (even when it grows,) you will contact us and let us help to find a good, new home for him/her. We don't ever, ever, want one of our Back Porch babies to end up in a shelter.

Please take your responsibility very seriously when you adopt a Back Porch puppy. Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are extremely smart, happy and loving dogs. But, like all dogs, they require time and attention. If you want to have a well-behaved pet, you need to commit time and energy into their training and socialization. If you don't, a Doodle may find mischief to occupy his/her quick mind.

Puppy kindergarten is an excellent first step to training and socialization. While you are waiting for your puppy to arrive, you might want to look into these programs and find out when you can enroll your baby in school!

We do caution you to look at the premises where the classes will be given and be certain that they require proof of shots and healthy puppy vet check ups. You want to be sure that they are in a place where they can (and do) sanitize the rooms regularly, since your puppy will not be fully protected against disease for a while.

All dogs, at some point in their lives, will need medical care. Please build a good relationship with your vet so that when you need help, (s)he will be there for you.

Your puppy will come to you with a healthy puppy vet examination and the first few series of shots, we expect that you will continue to provide this valuable protection after your pet goes home with you. In order to qualify for the well-puppy warranty , you will be required to take your new puppy to the vet and confirm its general good health. This exam must take place within 4 days of you taking possession of the puppy. See the warranty for specific terms.

Sometimes puppies have trouble understanding what we want of them, please be patient, kind, yet firm with your new puppy so that (s)he will learn how to please you through love and not harsh discipline.

The Back Porch family will work with your puppy from his/her first day, to the time (s)he goes to your forever home. We hope that you will find your puppy easier to train because of the attention we will provide.

Puppies need a safe place. If they are left, unsupervised, in an open room, they will almost always find trouble and, often, danger. Please invest in a sturdy crate for your pup and learn the proper ways to train your baby to enjoy the safety of his “kennel.”
