Throughout the Back Porch web page, you will find links to helpful information and other sites. We also have a list of friends who breed and sell puppies. We want you to find the right puppy for your home and we are happy to refer you to other reputable breeders.
If you might be interested in adopting a “re-home” dog, please seriously consider doing so. Many sweet dogs are, for one reason or another, not able to remain in their adoptive homes. Just because a dog wasn't right for someone else, doesn't mean it won't be perfect for you.

Most people love the Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and understand that by crossing these intelligent, loyal breeds we are able to "produce" the best of both.
We find the lovable nature of a Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever (two of the most often selected dogs for family pets) mixed with another popular breed, the Poodle, helps to make offspring that might be tolerable to people who suffer from allergies.
In the past these children and adults were not able to have pets, and if they also suffered from a handicap, they could not get help from guide dog assistants. Now, not only are they able to be around a dog, they are able to embrace and enjoy their own loving companion. Some people think this is wrong.
My husband, a person with severe allergic reactions to dogs and cats, thinks this breed is a wonderful gift. And, when I see him playing and cuddling our dogs, it makes the negative attitudes even harder for me to understand.
It is true, that not every Labradoodle or Goldendoodle is allergen-free nor non-shedding. Some are, some are not. Many things cause allergies, but it is a fact that many thousands of allergy suffering people, worldwide, have been around Doods and will tell you that they have no negative reaction at all. So, something must be working.
But, for some reason a few folks get very angry, even downright mean about Labradoodles, their owners and especially their breeders. You will hear many arguments, for and against, mixing these breeds.
In an effort to give you our side of the story (supportive of mixing the breeds, knowing that we are making healthy puppies) I would like you to check out this link: http://www.akitarescue.com/Canine Diversity Project.htm so that you can better understand the science of breeding and not rely solely on the angry accusations from people in opposition.
All we ask is that you do the research and then decide what is right for you.
